Joints & SOLUGEL® Collagen Peptides

Study on pain, physical function, and daily activities in physically active middle-aged adults.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study investigated how daily intake of SOLUGEL® collagen peptides over several months affected various physical and mental parameters.

The study in numbers

86

Participants

Physically active middle-aged adults took part in the study.

10 g & 20 g

SOLUGEL® daily

Two different daily amounts of SOLUGEL® collagen peptides were compared with a placebo group.

up to 9 months

Study duration

After six months, participants could voluntarily continue the study for another three months.

The publication describes 86 participants at the beginning and 51 people who continued after six months through month nine.

Exercise made a difference

Activity played a role.

The results were not identical for all participants.

The improvement of the pain parameter investigated at 10 g daily was observed in the group that trained for more than 180 minutes per week.

The researchers therefore point out themselves that the observed effects can depend on, among other things, on population, dosage, duration, and the endpoint investigated.

This also fits much better with your philosophy: collagen not as a "miracle cure", but as part of a routine with nutrition and exercise.

10 g or 20 g?

This is particularly exciting for you because your daily portion is also 10 g.

More is not automatically better.

In the study, 10 g and 20 g of collagen peptides daily were investigated.

Interestingly, the results were not simply better with the higher dosage in principle.

10 g daily
→ Improvements in daily activities after 6 months
→ Improvement of the pain parameter in people with high training frequency
→ Improvement of the mental health score over 3–9 months

20 g daily
→ Improvement of the physical health score over 3–9 months was observed in women

The authors accordingly emphasize that the results can depend on dosage, duration, the parameter investigated, and the population.

How was it measured?

KOOS

Pain & function

The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score assessed, among other things, pain, symptoms, activities of daily living, sports and leisure function, as well as knee-joint-related quality of life.

VR-12

Physical & mental health

The standardized VR-12 questionnaire was used to assess physical as well as mental and social health aspects.

Both questionnaires were used repeatedly during the study.

Long-term instead of a snapshot

Investigated for up to 9 months.

Science takes time.

Unlike many short-term studies, this study followed the participants for six months. A part of them subsequently continued the study for another three months.

Thus, changes after 3, 6, and up to 9 months could be observed.

What does the study have to do with Corridge?

The raw material behind our collagen.

In this scientific study, SOLUGEL® collagen peptides were used.

SOLUGEL® is the collagen raw material that we also use for our Corridge Collagen products.

Important: The study was not conducted with a finished Corridge product. The presented results refer to SOLUGEL® collagen peptides under the respective conditions of the study.

The publication explicitly confirms that SOLUGEL® was the collagen peptide used in the study.

Not every result applies equally to every person.

Age, activity level, dosage, duration, and many other factors can influence which changes are observed in a study.

That is why at Corridge we show you not only individual results, but also how, in whom, and over what period they were investigated.
